Safe and effective learning method for neurodiverse minds

The Creative Learning Method

For over 15 years, I have worked with neurodivergent children who carry a lot of anxiety, self-doubt, and a quiet belief that learning just isn't for them.

The Creative Learning Method is the approach I have developed through years of specialist training and hands-on experience. It isn't a rigid programme or a one-size-fits-all system. It is my personal way of bringing together everything I have learned — multisensory teaching, emotional coaching, structured routines, and the simple but powerful belief that a child cannot learn until they feel safe.

Connection before expectation

Before we open a book or pick up a pencil, I focus on the child. How are they feeling today? What do they need? Are they regulated, calm, and ready — or do they need five minutes in the garden with Mishka first?

This isn't wasted time. It is part of the work. Children who feel seen and settled learn faster, retain more, and come back willingly. Many of the children I work with have spent years in environments where their needs weren't understood. The Creative Learning Method starts by changing that experience entirely.

How it works in practice

Every child I work with gets a personalised approach built around how they think, move, and process the world. Sessions draw on:

  • Multisensory learning — using movement, colour, hands-on materials, and visual tools rather than worksheets alone

  • Structured routine — clear, predictable sessions that reduce anxiety and build confidence over time

  • Creative, flexible teaching — adapting in the moment to what the child needs, whether that's slowing down, switching approach, or taking a break

  • Emotional regulation support — recognising when a child is dysregulated and knowing how to help them reset before learning can begin

  • Animal-assisted support — for in-person sessions, Mishka is often part of the session, providing calm, non-judgmental companionship that reduces pressure and increases engagement

What makes it different

Most children who come to me have already been told, in one way or another, that they are behind. The Creative Learning Method is built on the opposite premise — that every child has a capable, creative mind, and that the right environment will unlock it.

Parents often tell me that their child used to dread learning and now looks forward to sessions. That shift doesn't happen because I push harder. It happens because I take the pressure away, meet the child where they are, and make sure that every session ends with the child feeling more confident than when they arrived.

Who this approach is for

  • The Creative Learning Method is used across all of my services — dyscalculia and dyslexia tuition, ADHD coaching, handwriting clubs, dog mentoring sessions, and parent consultancy. It is particularly well suited to children who:

  • Have had negative or stressful experiences with learning

  • Struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, or school avoidance

  • Are neurodivergent and need a more flexible, creative approach

  • Learn best through doing, moving, and making rather than sitting and listening
